Emily was our summer babysitter which worked out so much better than I could have hoped for. She was full of fun and full of ideas and I think the kids had a great balance of activities and just good old fashioned playing by themselves and entertaining themselves. Emily was also able to handle the kids just perfectly. We know that it isn't always easy to handle all of the moods and fighting but she was a pro. I am so pleased with how it all went. We owe her a huge thank you.
I started with a picture of the kids in the car because Emily had the kids all over town.
She introduced them to one of her favorite Halifax stores; The Black Market. Gaelle could have stayed there all day looking at the jewelry. I think we have another fan.
Here they are downtown on the waterfront where they had a blast with the tall ships. Not so much fun with the tall ships, but plenty of fun with all of the other activities.
She also introduced them to Freak Lunchbox; a store devoted to CANDY. But there was a purpose to that other than just sugar overload.
They made their own piñata.
Then they broke the piñatas and then we had a sugar overload. Not really.
Emily had a lot of inspiration from Pinterest and so the kids did some cooking this summer. We loved the watermelon cake.
It wouldn't be summer without ice cream. I'm not sure where this was taken but I think the kids have been to more ice cream spots around Halifax than I have.
The 3 of them went bowling one day. Even though Peter isn't quite as tall as Emily yet, his feet are the biggest and we know he has a bit of growth coming.
Emily won 2 rounds and Peter won one round. But I think they all had fun.
Emily brough back lots of scallop shells from her road trip to Grand Manan and so the kids painted one afternoon. They were really nice.
I bought Emily a whoopie pie pan and she and the kids made.....
whoopie pies.
Emily had the kids make cookies one day as a community service project.
They made thank you cards for the firemen, policemen, and emergency room personnel.
They packaged up the cookies and then dropped them off along with their cards.
There were trips to beaches all over the Halifax area. Ocean beaches.
And beaches at some of the lakes in the area.
Emily also made sure the kids went to VBS. This was a "Sky" VBS at Hillside Wesleyan. They just loved it. The Bible points were totally etched on their hearts. "No matter where you are, TRUST GOD."
More Pinterest inspiration. They placed crayons on a blank canvas and then used a hair dryer to melt the crayons.
We were all impressed with the results.
Gaelle thought of a water faucet dripping crayons. It looks great!
Peter has a shooting star.
Thank you so much Emily for an amazing summer.
