God loves us
I had the opportunity to volunteer at the GLA booth at Jesus to the Nations in Halifax. Robin and I spent 10 hours on Saturday talking to people about the incredible ministry of our orphanage. This was a bigger blessing than I expected. We met some fantastic people and had some great conversations. We showed pictures of Peterson & Gaëlle and encouraged everyone to go on a missions trip to GLA and cuddle our kids until we could get there. We also talked seriously with one lady about adopting from Haiti.
I took the time to sit in on the last session of Saturday night. Rebecca Atallah spoke and she said one thing that just grabbed me. Her ministry is with the Garbage Village of Muqattam, Egypt. The story and history of the Christian church in that village is amazing, and she really emphasized the power of God to change lives; not social programs, not money, not good intentions... but God's transforming power in our lives.
This is how she summed it up. "God loves us just as we are. But God loves us too much to leave us the way we are." A simple but powerful truth. Praise God.
